Gloria Geither was named the Deputy Secretary of Facilities Management for the Kansas Department of Corrections in October of 2023 after more than 30 years of experience in the department. Most recently, she was the Interim Warden for the Lansing Correctional Facility, a maximum-security men’s facility, and prior to that, she served as the Warden at the Topeka Correctional Facility, the only women’s facility in Kansas. Her previous experience includes serving as the Director of the Women’s Activities and Learning Center at the Topeka Correctional Facility and the Director of Religious and Volunteer Programs for the Kansas Department of Corrections.
Geither also led the development of the Kansas Mentoring4Success initiative, implementing one of the largest mentoring programs in the United States. Over more than a decade, she has overseen nearly 4,700 mentor/mentee matches, working with mentoring coordinators in the facilities and communities to build the capacity of the Kansas Department of Corrections to use mentoring to reduce recidivism.
She holds a bachelor’s degree in administration of justice from Wichita State University and a Master’s Degree in Public Administration from the University of Kansas.
